The 7 Day UK Tour London, Edinburgh and Wales- The Experience of a Traveler
At the time when I enrolled in the 7-day trip to uk organised by City Tours UK, I was aware that it would be a historical, cultural, and nature expedition. What I had not imagined was the extent to which I would see and experience within one week. The city of London, the serene beauty of the Scottish Highlands and the vibrancy of Welsh made this a journey to remember with its perfect mixture of exploration and lifetime memories.
Day 1: 1 Night London, Cambridge and York

The tour started in London and, frankly speaking, there can be no better starting point. As one passed in front of the Tower of London and stood next to Westminster Abbey, it was like one had entered the pages of a history book. We then drove to Cambridge, an old university town in London, after having imbibed its great atmosphere. Small streets, bicycles all over, centuries of history at the colleges.
At evening we came to York, and this was magical. The city was encircled by the ancient city walls, cobbled streets and the grandeur of the York Minster, making it look very medieval, which immediately attracted me. I finished the day with a peaceful evening walk in the street named The Shambles that was so beautiful I started thinking of Harry Potter.
Day 2-3: Angel of the North, Hadrian Wall, Jedborough and Edinburgh (2nights)

Our route north had given us a first view of the Angel of the North, which is a sculpture 20 meters high, made of steel and opening its wings. Fun fact: it has a Boeing 747-width wingspan! Then on to hadrians wall where you could just about envisage roman soldiers patrolling the boundaries of their empire.
Our path led us to pass Jedburgh a lovely Scottish town, with ruins of an abbey, which recited the stories of hundreds of years gone by. Then, Edinburgh received us with its Edinburgh Castle on its skyline. The topic of the Royal Mile, Gothic architecture, and even a taste of the traditional haggis took over two days of my time. The juxtaposition of old cobbled streets and a very dynamic and contemporary cultural life was what was interesting.
Day 4: Cairngorms National Park, Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands (1Night)

This was the day that I stood and gawked. The Scottish Highlands are as breathtaking as it is said to be. We travelled across Cairngorms National Park where there was infinite green hill against dramatic sky. I could not but look at Nessie, the monster, at Loch Ness. Although I did not see her she made a deep impression on me through the still waters. The day was completed with a visit to a Highland whisky distillery where we sat and sipped the finest Scotland had to offer.
Day 5: Gretna Green, Lake District and Liverpool (1Night)

We started our morning at Gretna Green, where runaway marriages were popular since 18 th century. Then the views became very different as we approached the Lake District. Hill and dale and shimmering gardens and lovely towns--it was like stepping into a picture.
In the evening we arrived in Liverpool, birth place of The Beatles. It was the city that was full of energy that was catching, there was music, history, and culture all around. One of the individual anticipations was standing on the docks and going to The Beatles Story Museum.
Day 6: Stratford-upon-Avon, Cardiff (1 Night)

This was a culture and history day. We made a pause at Stratford-upon-Avon where Shakespeare was born. As we passed through the timberwork buildings I might nearly imagine the young playwright wandering through these streets.
We later entered Wales, and arrived at Cardiff. Its blend of Cardiff Castle, busy streets and Welsh ambience made it unique to any other part of the journey. Welsh cakes, sweet, simple and delicious, were another experience that Cardiff afforded me.
Day 7: Bath, Stonehenge and Return to London

It was a brightening end of the right day. First Bath, with its beautiful Georgian buildings and the Roman baths. History stood there, and I had the feeling that thousands of years ago people used to take a bath in those waters.
Next there was the legendary Stonehenge. And in the presence of those inscrutable stones I was both awe-struck and amazed. Were they really for rituals? Astronomy? Or something else entirely? It is in the mystery of its magic.
At night we were back in London with all the stories and memories.
